John Nash is the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools and will be appointed to the House of Lords later in January 2013.
John was educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford and then trained as a Barrister. He then gained many years experience in venture capital. During his career in venture capital and private equity, John financed a number of highly successful organisations, including software delivery firm Borland International.
In 2006 John co-founded the charity Future with his wife, Caroline Nash. Future supports a selection of small charities that help underprivileged young people, as well as supporting schools through the sponsorship of academies.
Pimlico Academy has been sponsored by Future since 2008 and it has recently been announced that Pimlico Primary will be opening in September 2013, also with the support of Future.
Pimlico Academy sets high expectations, putting emphasis on academic success. The academy encourages its 1,250 students to express themselves through sports, music, and performing arts. Pimlico Academy promotes the importance of having self-respect, community spirit, and high aspirations. In 2010 the academy was rated “outstanding” by Ofsted just over two years after the previous school was in special measures.
Future has recently become the sponsor of Millbank Academy in South Westminster.
